Today was definitely a day to remember for all kinds of reasons. I met Capt. Ray at his house around 6:15 and headed to the docks, we left from there, all was good and then the fog set in. It was supposed to burn off early according to the weatherman. We headed North, which turned out to be a long, slow journey but well worth it. We had a small clearing around KDh but that was it, the bait is everywhere, the birds are diving and the fish are right along with them. We couldn't stay on them due to the fog, you could see roughly 15-20 yards around you, if you were lucky. We would listen for the birds and head that direction and catch a few fish and move on. We ended up catching 18 or so Rocks, which was good for the conditions. This is were the fun starts. We had a 50 mile run back, not bad, but due to the fog it took 4 hours to get to the trailer. The ride back wasn't bad, the inlet was a different story. Just our luck, the GPS decided to lose our trail and anyone who travels that path through the inlet knows it changes daily. We just missed the convoy that gathered to go through it, so we waited and went through with Rock Solid. I want to thank Aaron Kelly for his patience while waiting on us so we could find him. I'm not joking when I say it was foggy, by this point you could cast further than you could see. We finally made it under the bridge. We worked our way through the crack, very slowly, made the turn and BAM, wind blew us up on the bar. With no luck getting off, it was time to join the Polar Bear Club. Not bad...water was 45, the air was in the 5o's. We got the boat off the bar after 10 minutes or so and BAM, right back on it. So strip down again to rejoin the club for a second time. We got the boat off the bar again, by this time I was numb. We crossed the channel next to Aaron, when the Coast Guard went past us on a search and rescue. There was one boat with a broken GPS out at the bar. We and Rock Solid had looked earlier for the lost boat, but to no avail. That's when we called in the big guns.

MERRY CHRISTMAS

We want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year...

Thanks for a great year of fishing and fun, I got to met alot of great and interesting people this year that always made for great trips. The fishing is coming and going right now. As long as you don't mind a making a good run you can catch some fish. Hey, whats 30 or 40 miles when it comes to fishing, no big deal for what you get in return. Thanks again for a great year and looking forward to seeing you all again next year.

Fishing has been hit and miss down here for the past few weeks. The stripers will bite one day and take the rest of the week off, just enough to get everybody out there to burn gas. The cold fronts seem to be bringing them in slowly, so that is a good thing. We were supposed to get a good blow today, but it looks like it forgot to show up? Weathermen, gotta love them, get to tell lies and get paid well for doing it. LOL
I will let you guys know when they show up in full force, remember when looking at marina reports, they have 20 boats going out and you only see two pictures of fish, do the math, not that great of fishing like they make it look. I have a Striper tournament next week in Va. Beach, I'll let ya know how we do then. Have a good week.
Here is a picture of things to come, hopefully real soon....
